Albatris Acquires Portuguese Asset Manager from doValue Group

In a strategic move to bolster its presence in the Iberian asset management market, Albatris has announced the acquisition of doValue Portugal, a specialized asset manager, from doValue [DOV:MIL]. This acquisition marks a significant expansion of Albatris’s partnership with the doValue Group, which is the largest servicer in Southern Europe with €116 billion in assets under management.

doValue Portugal has made a name for itself over the past decade as one of the few end-to-end platforms capable of managing complex assets in the Portuguese market. Following its acquisition of the largest servicing platform, Oitante, in 2017, doValue Portugal has grown its assets under management to over €2 billion. The firm has also diversified its offerings, incorporating securitization, advisory, and portfolio management services.

With the completion of this acquisition, doValue Portugal will operate as a standalone entity with a renewed strategic focus. The company aims to empower its customers and institutional partners with innovative solutions for managing complex real asset situations.

Arash Talebinejad, Managing Partner at Albatris, expressed enthusiasm about the continued collaboration with the doValue Group across various markets and opportunities. “doValue Portugal provides a best-in-class platform chosen by many of the leading enterprises in the world. We see great potential to grow the platform by empowering its talented team and investing in product innovation, delivering excellence for customers, and building strong strategic partnerships,” Talebinejad said.

Mariano Chemes, CEO of doValue Iberian, echoed this optimism, stating, “We are confident that this marks an exciting next chapter for the firm and one that will continue to create benefits for its customers and employees. The Albatris team knows our industry well and is the ideal strategic partner to support the Portuguese business to become a standalone company and sustainably grow the firm’s asset base and rapidly evolving needs at the digital front-line.”

Post-acquisition, doValue Portugal will maintain its existing management team and implement Albatris’s broad-based employee program. This program, which makes employees co-owners in their respective businesses alongside Albatris, is rooted in the belief that strong employee engagement and an ownership culture are critical drivers of enterprise success.

The acquisition complements Albatris’s existing investments in Southern Europe and underscores its commitment to the region. The execution of this deal was supported by Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, SRS Legal, and PwC.

This acquisition is a testament to Albatris’s strategic vision and dedication to expanding its footprint in the European asset management landscape. By leveraging doValue Portugal’s established platform and expertise, Albatris is well-positioned to drive growth and innovation in the sector.
