UniCredit Bank S.A. and EBRD have completed their first synthetic securitisation transaction, further strengthening their partnership in Romania.
The transaction involved a €775 million portfolio composed of a granular pool of loans granted by the bank to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The operation marks UniCredit Bank S.A.’s entry into the Significant Risk Transfer (SRT) market and represents the first capital relief transaction for EBRD in Romania. It was structured to meet the requirements set out by the European capital requirements regulation (CRR) and to qualify for the Simple, Transparent and Standardised (STS) label, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
