CRIF SK analysis: 616 Slovaks in personal bankruptcy in January, up 37.5% from the January 2022

Since 2006, when the institution for personal bankruptcies in Slovakia, the CRIF-Slovak Credit Bureau, was launched, 78,053 personal bankruptcies had been declared by the end of January 2024.

The latest data from January showed that out of a total of 616 bankruptcies, 55 were declared for assets of natural persons – entrepreneurs and 561 for assets of non-entrepreneurs, an increase of 37.5 percent when compared to January 2022, when only 446 debtors went bankrupt

The courts also overturned 853 bankruptcies declared in previous periods.

Of these, 762 were canceled due to the debtor’s lack of assets and 91 bankruptcies were liquidated after meeting the final revenue schedule.

The highest number of bankruptcies was declared in the Bratislava and Presov regions (both 121), the least in the Nitra region (51) and mostly by men (407) while 209 concerned women.
